I would like to let you all know that I've become extremely busy for the next few days. There will be no updates to this site until Monday. See you all then.

Ultimix - As Promised a long time ago in a land far far away

You were all wondering if I was ever going to post the Ultimix of the 80's Mix that I promised a long time ago. Well the wait is over. This is the first mix. Eventually we will reach the end of this 32 issue special.

Now it was not my intent to post them in order so bare with us until the end and you should then have the first 32 issues in their entirety.

We are going to start slow and work our way up to the faster stuff. If you play all these back to back, you should have one long continuous mix. Of course between the mixes you would have to mix them yourself but thats the way it is with limited space.

It'll include songs that Ultimix released in the 80's that are now no longer commercially available. I guess from my last post I stepped on the feet of the great gentlemen at Culture Shock. Would you all please forgive me. I have decided to take down the "Hit AC Mix" and I will never post a commercially available release from them again.

Also I would like you all to check them out for yourself. Go to the main Culture Shock page. You can also check them out on their MySpace page. PURCHASE THEIR STUFF. I know I will.

I just downloaded volume 16 of Culture Shock. This is a Remix service that started in 1998 and produces DJ friendly remixes of modern rock and alternative songs that I would have otherwise overlooked since that genre is so hard to mix. They do a great job with these.

Again, I'm sorry for the lack of posts as of late. If you read regularly, I've been busy with football practice and work. Our football team is now 1-5 (our kids don't know how to block). My son however ran 60 yards for a touchdown on Saturday. Not bad for a 3rd grader.

I've been real busy lately with work, coaching my son's football team 3 days a week, my wedding DJ & videography buisness on weekends and the such that I have not had time to create new mixes. Please be patient and new mixes will come shortly.

To let you all know, football is not going to good. Defense is fine but offence does not seem to know how to block and we always get tackled in the backfield!!!! This really ticks me off. Everyday at practice we emphisize block, block, block, block. They do fine during a scrimmage and we can get some yardage. Come game time, they look like they don't know what they are doing. It is just frustrating. Because of the lack of blocking we are now winless after three games and only 5 more to go. Looks like our playoff hopes are dashed if we don't win next week after our Bye week.

A friend of mine sent me the entire 4 volume set of the remix service "Powerhouse Resurrection" a few weeks back. I finally had a chance to listen to these remixes and think they are great. It's too bad they only put out 4 volumes on CD which was actually 12 volumes on vinyl. I used to have 1 vinyl piece but misplaced it and now glad to have the entire set.

Feature Artist Friday - Siouxsie & the Banshees

Formed in 1976, Siouxsie and the Banshees is a British rock band led by singer Siouxsie Sioux and Steven Severin. They formed in the wake of the punk scene and soon became one of the the major bands in the post-punk movement. They have had an influence on groups such as The Cure, Tricky and LCD Soundsystem. Today they have a cult following in the goth scene.

Siouxsie with her husband Budgie also recorded as the Creatures

I remember seeing them at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at the students union. It was a great show. Siouxsie even clobbered an audience member in the head with a microphone for throwing insults at them. That was awesome. I hate people who go to shows and complain about everything.

Formed in Los Angeles in 1981, Asia was the first of the supergroups to enter the decade. Asia was formed with some of the best of the 70's progressive rock groups. Bassist/vocalist John Wetton had been in Family, King Crimson, Roxy Music and U.K. (to name a few), guitarist Steve Howe and keyboardist Geoff Downes had both been in Yes (Downes had also worked with The Buggles) and drummer Carl Palmer had been in Emerson, Lake And Palmer.

I was recently looking through some of my CD's and found this gem. A few years ago I was shopping at a record fest and some vender was selling some Radio Only promo's and show. This was in his $2 bin. It was a show that is not around any more called "Hot Mix".

They produced several mixes for radio only and had several formats. The two mixes today is from the Hot A/C format from the Early 90's. Not every song in these mixes are from the 80's but it is still real good. Hope you enjoy today's mixes

Remember Quiet Riot? Well they tried so hard to be this band. In fact, Cum On Feel The Noize was actually recorded first by Slade. After Quiet Riot made it big with that song, Slade made a comeback in the 80's with their own LP. Two songs from this mix are from that comeback LP (My Oh My & Run Runaway). This mix was by request in the forum.

I have to say this is more or less a cut and run mix, since it is sooooo hard to mix classic rock songs with very little breaks, different keys, and especially the use of a real drummer not a drum machine. That really messes things up, but, hope you like this mix anyway.

Flashback Now To 1985 & 1986

This is my last post until July 2, 2007. I'm heading to the beach for a whole week and drinking a bottle of Jack Daniels while I'm there. This is the time of year that I look forward to!!!!!!!! Do nothing and drink in the sun!!!!!!!! Every year my wife, son, and I rent a condo right on the beach and just chill. If you're in Destin, look for me. I'll be the one between the turntables mixing for everyone on the beach, nurcing a Jack-n-Coke.

Last Friday, I posted an Ultimix year-end medley from 1987. Got a great responce from that post that I want to post two more year end medley's. This time around, let's go back to 1985 and 1986.

The 1985 Flashback Medley was release on the second issue of Ultimix in 1986 while the 1986 Flashback Medley was included on Volume 8 in 1987.

Can I just ask why your such an arrogant swine on your blog, and why you seem to treat patrons of your website with such contempt, even when they make a valid contribution?

To be honest I don't think you're cut out for this kind of thing because you lack respect and patience.
Your knowledge of 80's music is also open to question with glaring errors in both artist info and even spelling!

I don't appreciate coming onto your blog to be subjected to abuse (eg. being called a bastard for no reason) and I'm sure most of the other visitors to your site would agree.

MUCH MORE EFFORT NEEDED IN ALL AREAS PLEASE OR I'LL REPORT YOU.

Am I an arrogant swine? Don't think so!!!!!!!! Treat patrons with contempt? NEVER!!!!!!!!!!! I have always been polite to everyone that visits this site. I fill requests when ever possible. Even reply to emails that I get in a timely manner.

Let's now attack my 80's knowledge!!! I never post information about artists on this blog. I only post mixes that I make.

One finally thing...search for the word bastard on my blog and it's not even there.

About DJ Tedy. I have never told him "Hey Tedy...I run this blog, you do the work for me." I feel he does a great job of posting things in the forum and have personally told him so in emails Isend to him. (even promoted him to moderator status because he posts many great things and hope he continues.) If he stops posting, he would be greatly missed.

This person thinks that everyone feels the way he does!!!! I know what my response is to this E-mail.... It's called the DELETE button. Let me know what you think of this person who says I make DJ Tedy do my work since I have no gut to do it myself. Since there was no name on the email, I think the one with no guts is MR. ANONYMOUS! What do you think. Leave a message in the comments area.

Flashback To 1987

Her Prince's Majesty

I don't need to tell you the talent that Prince has. Not only did he have a great solo hits in the 80's, he also started 2 great bands. (The Revolution, New Power Generation). He was also busy producing or writing for others as well. This mix incorporates some of the many "Ladies" he had a hand in to get there career off to a great start. It is ironic however that when he was finished with the ladies, it seemed like those careers fizzled out.

That Girl DJ Blended Erasure & Depeche Mode!!!!

I was looking through my CD collection and found this gem that I forgot I purchased. This is a disc called THAT GIRL DJ PRESENTS DEPECHE MODE ERASURE BLENDED. After looking at the disc, I remembered I purchased it at a used CD store back in 1995.

I don't know much "THAT GIRL DJ" other than what is on the back of the disc. I believe she is from Athens, Greece, since that is the address to write to for fan club info. If anyone has some more information on this release, I would like to know more about it.

Totally Industrial Tuesday

This type of music is my absolute favorite. Dark and electric. Call it what you will, (goth, Industrial, electronic etc.) I will always be extremely fond of this type. I started getting into Industrial while in an suburban high school where all the girls liked the preppy garbage and tried to look like Tiffany or Debbie Gibson, while the guys all wore polo golf shirts and deck shoes like Huey Lewis or George Michael. (you know, pretty boy stuff, YUK!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Even though I play that type of music while DJ'ing, I really loath it. When someone finally knows music and requests some 80's music that is not heard on the radio and only heard UNDERGROUND, I jump at the chance to play it.

I made an industrial (more of the reconizable type), a few weeks ago, called "On The Darker Side. You can check it out here. This time around, some industrial many of you may not recognize. I think it is a great mix and have listened to this mix over and over again, so many times, that my wife is getting sick of me. She thinks that I am suffering from depression. I told her this music is dark just like my soul (HA HA HA HA HA)

In this mix, I really dig the stolen base line from Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean" on
Kaw-Liga by the Residents. They give a new meaning to "Let's make fun of pop music"

Tribute to WAX TRAX!!!!!

No mix today since I DJ'd last night. Today I'm going to post a CD box set that I found the other day and forgot that I had this. It's the 3 disc box set of Wax Trax Records from 1994 called "BLACK BOX".

Black Box commemorates Wax Trax!'s output as an independent record label prior to its purchase by TVT Records. In particular, Black Box celebrates Wax Trax!'s place as the seminal American industrial label, featuring acts such as Ministry (and its numerous side projects), KMFDM, Meat Beat Manifesto, Coil, Laibach, and many others.

Black Box is notable for containing the Trent Reznor Vocal Version of 1000 Homo DJs' "Supernaut." Reznor's vocal recording was not used on the original Wax Trax! release because of pressure from his then-current record label — coincidentally, TVT Records. Absent from Black Box is the work of Front 242, whose releases on Wax Trax! (originally licensed from Play It Again Sam) are not represented because of disputes with Epic Records, which had recently obtained the rights to Front 242's catalogue.

This is a theme I thought up while at work the other day. I thought it might be fun to try to create a mix of all the Number One songs that was played in the clubs in the year 1980. So, I pulled out my copy of "Hot Dance/Disco 1974-2003" by Joel Whitburn, turned to the back of the book to the Number 1 Hits section, found the year 1980, and started to create. This is what I came up with. Its my longest mix to date, running over 1 hour.

Some Rock For You

I decided to try to do something different that I have never done before. I am posting an 80's rock mix to change things up a bit. The idea for this came from a station ID on XM satellite. On the classic rock station, (can't remember the number), they play a station ID, between songs, of Classic Rock songs snipits mixed together. I thought this would be something fun to try, but use the whole song instead of just a 5sec bit. This is what I came up with. Let me know what you think of this effort. By the way I made a special extended version of one of the songs for everybody. Please let me know what you think of this mix and what you would change. Input from you is always a pleasure.

My ranting on Friday was out of order. I would like to apologize to everyone. I think I lost site of this blog. The forum is there for everyone, if you want to, post, if not then that is fine with me. I want to make this a place for everyone without a harsh sell tactic. Come in and relax and help if you can, but, I will not twist your arm.

I will not ban anyone who just wants to check things out, and grab a few songs.

Once again if I offended anyone, please accept my apology and hope you will continue to make DJ Shooter's Club 80's one of your favorite blog on the site.

This week I have a few great mixes lined up and waiting (even if the lists are in my head right now)

About the forum. I put up the forum for everyone to help and find some songs that people are looking for. As of now only a few people are posting any songs.

If you are registered and do not post anything, in the forum, for 7 day you give me no choice but to put you on the inactive list. If you still don't post within 14 days, I'm going to have to put you on the banned list. I'm sure nobody wants to be banned, so please share.

I was searching the web yesterday and came across a couple of good club mixes made by DJ Lex. Did some research and found that he runs an internet radio station called DJ Lex Club 80's. I never heard of it before but it's been around awhile. (Maybe I should change my site name)

I got great response from the Stephan Bray mix I made last week and thought...Hey producer/songwriter mixes are a cool theme. This time, I made a SAW (Stock, Aitken, Waterman)
mix. Remember when you turned on the radio in the 80's and it seemed like the same song came on but yet it was a different artist. This was probably produced by SAW. I have now created a forum for everyone. If you have requests, post them there. If you want to help other or share songs, post them there. One thing though, DO NOT post stuff on RAPIDSHARE. I feel that this share site only wants people who are registered and pay to download. They make money off of stuff we do to help others. All other share site are fine. I have been asked, by 80's fan, if I would consider putting a forum/message board up, so we all can share songs. I would consider this but not sure where to find a totally free area to host this forum/message board. I need any body's help with this.

Once I find a place to host this, I will put one up with an area to trade your songs. Let me know what type of areas would interest you.

On to a different subject. If you hadn't noticed, under the request board, is an area that indicates song requests that I don't have. If anybody has any of those songs, let me know the song and URL. You can either send me an email or tell us the info in the request message board. Any help finding these songs for us would be very appreciated.
